It’s been just three days since Donald Trump abandoned our longtime Kurdish allies in northern Syria, and Turkey has attacked:
Turkey launched a major military operation in northeastern Syria on Wednesday, prompting alarm and despair among the Kurdish fighters who have been crucial U.S. allies in the war on the Islamic State group.
A spokesman for the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces has tweeted:
Meanwhile, a reminder that Trump, in his great and unmatched wisdom, has invited Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to visit the White House next month, probably to discuss how Trump’s business interests in Turkey are doing. And perhaps spend some quality time counting the dead bodies of our former allies.
