I have a confession to make. I forgot that I added a plugin to my browser that changed “Florida Man” to “Florida Man”. For a while I was away from the laptop mostly and on my phone so didn’t think about it. I thought a few other people were in on the joke too. But then I followed a link to the WaPo and saw that they too had an article that referenced “Florida Man”.
oops, my bad
But first, a word from our sponsors ...

Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
Note: Please remember that comment inclusion in Top Comments does not constitute support or endorsement by diarist, formatter, Top Comments writers or DailyKos. Questions, complaints or comments? Contact brillig.

from Arctic Stones:
Election turnout is abysmal, rarely breaking 60 percent even in American Presidential elections. Norway just had local (mid-term) elections with a dismal turnout (about 70 percent).
Bo Realis from neighboring Sweden has some excellent ideas about how to increase turnout! Sweden’s turnout in 2018 was 87.2 %, so these ideas deserve careful consideration.
I believe that GOTV and a far higher turnout is vital if American democracy is to survive.
from triplepoint:
I know this is late, but i just now saw it. I found this from Concinnity hilarious and worthy of mention. In a fantastic diary by Aldous J Pennyfarthing.
from Denise Oliver Velez:
Tulsa Gal expresses her anger at the erasure of so much of the history of people of color in this comment, in my Veterans Day tribute to Puerto Rican soldiers.
2wontanabe about why honoring vets is a very personal issue.
