The Powerland Heritage Park in Brooks, Oregon is the home to fourteen different museums. The Miller Lumber Sawmill is a historical reproduction of a steam powered sawmill of the 1900-1930 period.
Shown above is what we used to call a straddle buggy (or more formally, a Straddle Carrier)—it is used to pick up and move stacks of lumber. This one was made by Gerlinger.
Another view of the straddle buggy.
The straddle carrier was developed by Carl F. Gerlinger, a German immigrant in Oregon, in the 1920s.
Shown above is the steam tractor that powers the mill.
