A while ago, I posted regularly on music at DK. The column, "The Daily Music Break,” consisted of cross-posted entries from a website of the same name. Earlier this month, I published an eBook that also draws on the posts at the website. It’s called “Beyond Boundaries: Great Music Across Eras and Genres.”
The goal of the website, the old DK posts and the eBook is the same: To expose people to great music they may have missed. Modern technology does two contradictory things at once. On one hand, it provides instantaneous access to virtually any recorded music. On the other, it makes it possible to drill down to so much of what a person likes that they stop listening to things they don’t know. My belief is that this is common. It’s human nature.
The eBook is a bit of a sampler of all sorts of music. Some of the artists and bands featured are familiar (Savoy Brown, A Tribe Called Quest, Hoagy Carmichael, Pablo Casals and others) and far lesser-knowns. Each capsule links to the relevant video at the website.
Please check it out at Kindle. If anyone is interested in a free copy of the eBook, let me know below.
