On the second day of Impeachment, GOP counsel Steve Castor continued to baffle the committee and viewers with his impeachment-friendly line of questioning. He praised ambassador Bill Taylor as a man of integrity. Then he followed with a line of questioning allowing former ambassador Marie Yovanovich to strengthen her testimony and her remarks about the smear campaign launched by Giuliani.
Or maybe, he was simply out his depth against a seasoned professional like Ambassador Yovanovitch.
Castor praises Yovanovitch’s service (nice touch).
Praises Bill Taylor -
Allows Yovanovitch to discuss smear campaign -
Allows Yovanovitch to highlight previous damaging testimony -
Brings Manafort, the criminal, into the discussion -
Mike-drop!
GOP counsel Castor: This Ukrainian guy said some very nasty things about Trump!
Marie Yovanovitch: Sometimes that happens on social media.
Cat got your tongue?
Nunes got panicky ...
So, he tried to pass a flea-flicker to Stefanik — but Adam Schiff sternly shut them down. Tears can be seen rolling down republican cheeks ;)
Some reactions -
John Harwood … so charitable.
Please let him proceed ...
Now, be nice. He is helping humanity.
No, he is on the same side, the dumb one.
Is GOP the real deep state? And Steve Castor their secret weapon? Sounds plausible ;)
Or is he the whistleblower? Hmmm ...
Ambassador Yovanovitch represents the best of America. And Steve Castor understood what he was up against. Watch her opening statement.
Ambassador Yovanovitch is a bad-ass!
Bravo! Your reputation and professionalism is unassailable.
Let’s enjoy the humor but stay focused and keep responding to the GOP lies, false narratives, their juvenile shifting arguments and their full-scale mud-slinging campaign with the simple truth — extortion, bribery and witness intimidation are high crimes and no one is above the law.
