The Poll:
Is it possible that anticipating the loss in Louisiana Trump finally began to experience some physical symptoms like chest pain which led to his going to Walter Reed? Trump having a panic attack, that would be a sight to behold. Trump being told by the doctors that it was an anxiety attack or indigestion, that would be an even better sight to behold.
Trump won Louisiana by 20 points. That was then, this is now. The Louisiana governor race was supposed to be a referendum on you. He even raised Trump sycophant and immigration hard-liner Eddie Rispone’s hand in a death-grip victory salute although he looked none-too-happy.
A little background from The Washington Post ($$):
Rispone, a millionaire construction contractor from Baton Rouge, also aggressively went after Edwards’s record, sending out controversial mailers that blamed his criminal justice overhaul for releasing murderers and sex offenders into the community.
Rispone campaigned as a staunch conservative who would restore “Christian values” to the state. He vowed to crack down on illegal immigration, threatening to step in as governor to prevent New Orleans from becoming a “sanctuary city.” New Orleans leaders have strongly denied that the city fits that label.
“When I am governor, we will crack down — HARD — on every single criminal illegal and terrorist gang,” Rispone said in one newspaper ad.
To get his message out, Rispone has spent more than $12 million of his own money on his campaign, flooding the airwaves with television ads. But his hard-charging campaign style has alienated some Republicans who believe he used unfair tactics against Abraham in the primary.
Trump, perhaps in a rare display of insight into the political winds blowing against him, almost pleaded for voters to support him by voting for Rispone against the popular incumbent Democrat John Bel Edwards:
From Politico prior to the election: Can Trump Win Governor of Louisiana? He’s not officially on the ballot, but he’s desperate for proof that voters love him enough to take down a popular Democrat.
From their matching red ties to their matching rhetoric, President Trump and Eddie Rispone, the Republican challenger to Louisiana’s incumbent governor, John Bel Edwards, have tried to erase any distinction between them.
“You need to fire your far-left governor,” Trump told the crowd of nearly 14,000 on Thursday night in Bossier City.
but then he went on (my emphasis added)
While it is Rispone’s name that appears on the ballot Saturday for governor of Louisiana, in many respects it is Trump’s reputation on the line, and that is by choice. Trump has injected himself into the governor’s race with unusual vigor, hoping for a state-flipping win that he can take credit for. Unseating Edwards would do a lot to erase the sting of the public impeachment hearings and the news that the incumbent Republican he had backed in the Kentucky governor’s race had earlier Thursday finally conceded defeat. “ I really need you … to send a message to the corrupt Democrats in Washington,” a somewhat subdued Trump urged the audience. “So you’ve gotta give me a big win, please. OK?”
Trump had a very, very bad week in Washington, however he also had a very, very bad day “Way Down Yonder in New Orleans” on Saturday”…
I didn't want to get into psychology here. However it makes sense that Trump will manifest physical symptoms before we see his psychological defenses break down and we see blatant signs of decompensation. This fits with his psychopathology. He is a denier par excellence. These are the personality types who end up succumbing to physical symptoms when under great stress.
The Poll: Is it possible that anticipating the loss in Louisiana Trump finally began to experience some physical symptoms like chest pain which led to his going to Walter Reed? Trump having a panic attack or stomach cramps due to acid indigestion or reflux, that would be a sight to behold. Seeing him being confronted by his own mortality would be revealing. There’s no way he ever gave much or any thought to his inevitable end, let alone read essays about dealing with death by philosophers like Michel de Montaigne (see That to Study Philosophy is to Learn to Die).
Trump being told by the doctors that it was an anxiety attack or gas would be a revealing sight to behold as whatever realizations that he was mortal evaporated and he went back to his usual notion that he was an immortal deity.
