Our Gay Cal Democrat’s group diary is going up at 8:00am pacific time, three hours from now. Thought I’d just put up a little post in our usual time slot so we’d have a place to share coffee, good mornings, and wish one another Happy Thanksgiving before we get busy with the day. There’s no boiler plate. Gay’s diary is going to be full of all kinds of good stuff so keep an eye out for it going up at 11am eastern.
This is just my Thanksgiving best wishes to you and yours. This is just my small way of saying “Thank you,” for being all that you are. Hope your day will be filled with love and the aromas of good things cooking.
There will be no turkey at our house today. The oven died and the new one is being delivered tomorrow. So we’re going to have salmon and rice with some veggies and of course, pies. And that’s more than ok. That will do nicely.
I never look at this day in the traditional sense anyway. I’m not about celebrating the Pilgrims landing and the whole myth about the “first,” thanksgiving. There’s too much destruction, pain, and loss that followed.
But I do look at this day as a reminder of what there is to be thankful for. In spite of the Trumpian nightmare we’re fighting back against, there are still gifts each day brings.
For example, my amaryllis is unexpectedly blooming. Didn’t force it. Didn’t do anything. Leaves and stems started appearing. I applied water and now there are beautiful stained glass blooms brightening these gray November days. Hence, the picture above.
The rains stopped long enough to enjoy the moon and stars the other night. Such things keep me going. All of you help keep me going.
Kamala helps keep me going. I’m not going to give Trump the attention he so desperately craves. I’m not giving my time and energy to something I find so utterly morally reprehensible.
Instead, I’m going to do everything possible to help elect the woman who will restore justice, integrity, brilliance, caring, hard work, and decency to the highest office in the land. Together, we are going to make that happen.
They work so hard for all of us. They never give up on us and for that, I am profoundly grateful.
Now, it would not be Thanksgiving at my house without a very “traditional” song or two.
Happy Thanksgiving, wonderful ones! Blessings to you and yours, always.
