Seattle City Council member Kshama Sawant won 59.3% of today's ballot drop and has pulled within 739 votes of Amazon and Chamber of Commerce tool Egan Orion. Amazon and the Chamber spent millions on the election and their main target was Sawant, who, among her other “sins” (besides being a Socialist), was the driving force behind failed head tax. After the initial count on election night many wrote off any chance of her winning. There are about 13,000 ballots remaining to be counted—and she needs to capture 53 percent of them to win. Given past elections 53 percent is close to a 100 percent guarantee.
