Republicans put Gym Jordan on House Intelligence Committee to be a top impeachment attack dog

Rep. Jim Jordan is joining the House Intelligence Committee for the duration of the impeachment inquiry, replacing Rep. Rick Crawford. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy announced that news Friday, as in the same day news broke that a second man said he told Jordan about sexual abuse by the team doctor when Jordan was an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University.

No, really. It’s not just that Republicans aren’t penalizing Jordan in any way for his record of ignoring and waving off sexual abuse of college students under his supervision. They’re elevating him to be one of their key attack dogs on impeachment.

On the Intelligence Committee, which, McCarthy said, “has now become the Impeachment Committee,” Jordan will “continue fighting for fairness and truth.” Uh-huh. Just like he fought for fairness and truth when a referee went to him and said that Dr. Richard Strauss had masturbated in front of him in the shower and Jordan said “Yeah, that’s Strauss.” The key difference here? Where Jordan simply shrugged at Strauss’s actions, he aggressively defends Trump’s.
