In 1885, Thomas Edison bought an estate in Ft Myers FL, on the Caloosahatchee River, as a winter home. After visiting him there, his friend and fellow industrialist Henry Ford purchased the house next door. For decades, the two spent each winter there. Today, the Edison and Ford winter estates are run by the city of Ft Myers as a historical preserve and museum, with guided tours.
Some photos from a visit.
