The Sanders campaign received a boost when Alejandra Ocasio-Cortez, Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib endorsed him. These three congresswoman are representative of the demographic diversity of the younger generation of new political activists that is the base of Sanders support.
If you want a window into the future of America just have a look at Sanders supporters. According to a recent Pew poll 51% of Sanders supporters are People of Color.
whether they'd vote for Sanders if the Democratic presidential primary or caucus was held today, 31% of those who identified as white said yes. Comparatively, there was a higher percentage of participants who identified as Hispanic (37%), African-American (32%), or "other" (33%) who said the same thing.

What Do Black Women Want This Election Season?
Mr. Sanders is the favorite candidate among black women aged 18 to 34.
In contrast, only 45 % of Black women 25-35 agreed that the Democratic Party best represented their interests, with nearly one-third indicating that no party represents them. These data points may reflect the top-bottom flip between Biden and Sanders among Black women 35 and older vs. Black women between the ages of 18-34
Last spring, a Harvard-Harris poll found Sanders to be the most popular active politician in the country. African Americans gave the senator the highest favorables at 73 percent — vs. 68 percent among Latinos, 62 percent among Asian Americans and 52 percent among white voters. It wasn’t a fluke: This August, black voters again reported a 73 percent favorability rating for Sanders.
Bernie is leading Joe Biden among under-30 black voters by a 41/23 margin. But at the other end of the age spectrum, among black seniors, Biden trounces Sanders 61/6.
That 73% approval means that it’s not just young Black Sanders supporters that like Sanders. Older Biden supporters in the Black community also like Sanders, they are just not (yet) convinced he can win. On the issues like Medicare for All, African Americans support Sanders position in much larger numbers than white voters.
Bernie’s most ardent supporters are in the Latinx community. It is a population that skews much younger than the white population which has worked in Sanders favor.
Sanders’s ‘Secret Weapon:’ Strong Latino Support
In a recent Fox News poll of Nevada, Hispanics there preferred Sanders over Biden by 7 percentage points. Sanders also led Biden with them by 9 points in a recent Latino Decisions poll of California and doubled the former vice president’s vote among them in the University of Texas at Tyler poll.
In Florida where older Cubans have been the exception to the Democratic party support among Hispanics, things are rapidly changing. Puerto Ricans will outnumber Cubans in Florida by 2020. San Juan (biggest city and the capital of PR) Mayor Carmen Yulín Cruz is co-chair of the Sanders campaign. Young Cubans and recent Cuban immigrants don’t share the right wing political views of Cubans that fled Castro 60 years ago and there has been an influx of Dominicans, Colombians, Brazilians and immigrants from other Latin countries further depressing the influence of a shrinking group of geriatric Cuban Republicans.
In Florida as in all the areas of the country with exploding Hispanic populations getting young voters to the polls is the key to success.
Does Bernie’s working class messaging connect with people of color? Who do you think is in the working class? Just because the media focuses on a small sliver of white male blue collar voters does not mean that they represent the demographics of American workers today.
People of color will be a majority of the American working class in 2032
Who Makes Up the Working Class?
In every state but Maine, Vermont, and West Virginia, the working class is more racially and ethnically diverse than each state’s overall adult population. Nationally, this overrepresentation is driven by two major trends: White Americans are more likely to hold a four-year college degree, and a greater share of white Americans are older than the prime working age.
But what about the Bernie Bros? If you are looking for an exclusive club of white male privilege you will have to go to those Democratic party fundraisers where big checks are written by big money donors. That billionaire bros club is the whitest, most male fraternity in America and many of them have publicly threatened to not only withhold donations from Democrats, but even vote for Trump if Democrats dare nominate anyone who threatens their white male privilege.
If however you are looking for a diverse group that represent a brighter, more just and sustainable future for America come to a Sanders rally.
