In the days since the House of Representatives voted to Impeach the Imorange, I have been seeing throughout mainstream news them playing more to the Right-Wing narrative for Speaker Pelosi’s surprise move to withhold the articles of impeachment, until the Senate makes clear the process of the impeachment trial.
Why would she do this ITMAKESNOSENSE!??!?!
It’s soooo weird that Pelosi would do this
This actually helps Republicans soooo much
In case it is too subtle, the Republican Party message on this move is that there are no good reasons why Pelosi should withhold the articles of impeachment from the Senate, meaning this is a bad move for her.
And either being so gullible or willfully playing dumb, the mainstream media has been all too happy to go along with this simplistic answer. Beats racking their brains to come up with a logical explanation based on past events, amirite?
In reality, this decision by Pelosi makes a lot of sense, and echoes to me the type of political maneuvering that would, back in the day, earn Obama all the accolades for “playing 12th dimensional chess while everyone else is only playing checkers.”
There are several reasons why this makes sense:
McConnell telegraphing his moves
McConnell has made it all too obvious that he has no intention of holding a real trial in the Senate. Apparently, in his mind, it makes sense to be so blatant about it.
In his mind, he must liken himself to Babe Ruth, signaling to the left field for the inevitable home run. In reality, it is more like having a bad poker face. Everyone else now knows what you have, and what you are going to do with it, and they can play their own hands accordingly.
If you make it so obvious that your every intention is to acquit Trump at the earliest possible opportunity, then why the Hell, if you are Pelosi, going to do anything to help them kill it quietly? She now has every incentive to prevent them from doing the one thing they want to do.
Trump is getting more deranged by the day
What we have already seen, in the few brief months that the impeachment process has been underway, is that Trump is not taking it well at all. As bad as he can get with his inane ramblings and misguided attacks, he has been at his most lowest points so far. Attacking dead politicians, that ridiculous rage boner letter; it is all only the tip of the iceberg, the longer the impeachment hangs over Trump’s head. The thing is, he wants the exoneration, and the longer you keep him from the things he wants, like a toddler, he just throws more and more tantrums, expecting to get his way. The longer the impeachment process drags on and gives Trump more time to go unhinged and off his rocker and dig h is own grave, the worse things get for him.
When Trump gets impatient, the one person he takes it out on the most — McConnell
We have seen in the past that when you keep Trump from the things he wants, he starts throwing anyone and everyone he can on his side to the wolves. And the one person he has done this to the most, is Mitch McConnell.

Yeah, is it any wonder why McConnell is trying so hard to convince everyone that he is perfectly fine with the Dems dragging the impeachment process out? Why he wants to convince everyone that this is actually a good thing for him?
Trump has Caved to Democratic Party demands in the past
When Trump gets greedy and impatient for something he wants, he has proven time and time again that he will actually agree to deals that work in the Dem’s favor, over his own Party’s, if he thinks it benefits him.

Now, a good point will be raised — what sort of reason could Trump possibly have to cave to Democratic demands for an impeachment trial against him?
At the end of the day, Trump lives in his own bubble. He has surrounded himself with advisors who tells him what he wants to hear. In this environment, it is all too plausible, that Trump could simply think that he really is so untouchable and that call with Zelensky so “perfect,” that even if the Senate trial includes witnesses and other Dem demands, confident in his innocence — and having McConnell in his backpocket, he might just simply force McConnell to cave to Dem demands — as he has multiple times before — just so he can get everything going quicker. Even if things are to his disadvantage on paper, in his own mind, and likely out of the mouths of his advisors, any action he takes will be deemed the most logical and most “perfect” way forward.
Ultimately, the point is this: by withholding the articles of impeachment, Pelosi has made a superb political calculation. And once again, she proves that, while she and the Democratic Party are playing 12th dimensional chess, McConnell and Trump are comparatively playing rock-paper-scissors for who has to lose to her in the more public fashion.
