Yang has impressed me from the beginning. I was amazed at how many issues he had plans for, & his innovative thinking. In the debates, I’ve been impressed with how direct, concise & to the point his responses are, making the most of what little time he gets to speak, & also how positive he has been, avoiding talking negatively about fellow Democratic rivals, & speaking positively of several already. He also has a great sense of humor while being forthright in his views.
I thought he won the last debate & has won a few of the others, & has always scored among the leaders. He’s been in my Top 3 for quite a while behind Warren & Sanders, but with this last debate, he is now in at least a 3-way tie. I have always been behind Bernie because he so mirrors my own thoughts about what needs to be done. And Warren has what I think it takes both to confront the corrupt powers that be, but also to heal the nation & finally get us back on a positive path.
But I had already given a thought to how a Yang candidacy could bring a huge landslide sweep the Democrats need, since not only would he draw a lot of people of color, but he also attracts enthusiasm among youth to a similar degree as Bernie & it’s growing, & he also attracts a lot of Independents & a fair amount of Republicans, & could get the Never Trumpers unlike some other Democrats. Many left-leaning Independents & youth need to be inspired in order to bother voting, so someone like Yang or Bernie that generates plenty of enthusiasm is necessary for Democrats to win. Actually Yang has the tetrafacta: appeal to POC, Millennials, Independents & Never Trumpers better than anyone else. In the only poll I’ve seen including Yang, he did the best of any Democrat against Trump.
Now I just started thinking how a Yang presidency would be, & I really liked the thought. He considers the future & his plans prepare us for the future that’s coming. He relates to the young very well, which is important. I also thought what a great symbol it would be for us to have a Chinese-American as President, & how that might positively affect our standing vs. China, Korea & other Asian countries. He is so sharp & thinks ahead, & I believe he would be a great negotiator. He would also repair the relations with our allies that Trump has trashed. Oh, & if Benedict Donald dared debate Yang, he would look like the idiot he is in front of the American people.
His only slight drawback in my opinion is that his climate plan is not quite up to the standard of Sanders, Steyer, Warren or Inslee (long gone), but it’s still very good & considers some worthwhile things that other plans don’t, including more ideas on how we’ll have to respond to the climate disasters awaiting us regardless of the measures we take due to delaying far too long.
This has been an election with so many excellent candidates that I’ve been switching from one to another & rearranging my order quite frequently. Among Warren, Sanders & Yang especially, it’s usually the last one I saw that I rank first, because each time I see them I like them more.
