On Saturday morning, Alexandrea “Alex” Bozarjian, a reporter for WSAV-TV in Savannah, was covering the Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run when one of the runners smacked her on the butt—live, on air.
Well, before the day was out, the Savannah Sports Council, which organizes the race, announced that the bottom-feeder had been tracked down and banned from ever competing in ANY of its events again.
Also before the day was out, social media users identified this scumbag—Thomas Reuben “Tommy” Callaway, of nearby Statesboro. He was identified after social media users cross-referenced his bib number with pictures from earlier in the race.
Callaway, it turns out, is a youth group leader at Pittman Park United Methodist Church in Statesboro, and is a salesman with a smokeless tobacco company. Suffice to say that he needs to be out of both jobs.
But that could be the least of his worries. Savannah police say that they’re “more than ready and willing” to work with Bozarjian, but are leaving it up to her about whether to proceed with criminal charges. To those wondering how there could even be a debate, a commenter in Marissa Higgins’ diary yesterday said that she might be wary of being slut-shamed by Callaway’s defense attorney.
I hope Bozarjian does press charges. People like Callaway are the very kind of people who need to be locked up.
