If you haven’t done so already, I suggest to hustle over to salon.com and read “I Was Groped by a Man Called ‘Mary’ ” by Lucian Truscott IV. If you don’t know the author, he comes from a long line of military figures, and he himself is a West Point grad whose career didn’t make it through the Vietnam War. His grandfather was a prominent WWII general.
He has been a writer for over fifty years starting with his time writing for the West Pointer while he was a cadet. His story is about his 1967 Francis Cardinal Spellman interview, during which the groping of the title took place. That Spellman was homosexual has long been rumored or known, but the blatant, unabashed nature of the incident was surprising to say the least.
Anyway, Truscott is always worth the read.
