Who knew?
I heard from my sister, Sandy, that her cat, Token, loved cat bananas. It’s not a real banana, but a catnip toy that looks like a banana. He “loves” them to shreds in the blink of an eye. I bought one a year or two ago for my cat, Misty, but she never played with it. Yeah, she’s finicky about everything including food, toys, and people!
Unable to find the much loved cat banana at the pet supply store, Sandy asked if I could find one on Chewy where I have been ordering pet supplies since I can’t haul stuff from the brick and mortar store anymore. I checked, found a cat banana that cost twice as much as the ones at the store, but proceeded to order 2 (1 for Token and another one to try again with Misty). I planned on giving Token his banana on Christmas.

Misty got excited as I opened the Chewy box. I thought she was waiting for me to remove the litter and bag of Science Diet so she could claim the empty box as her kingdom, but, noooooo. She smelled something she wanted more. On returning from putting the litter and dry food away, I found her inside loving one of the cat bananas, rubbing herself on it, holding it and thumping it with her back feet, and generally in cat love. I never saw her enjoy a toy like this before. She generally prefers cardboard boxes and brown paper bags to the expensive toys I buy for her.
I checked out the cat banana that was still in the box intended for Token. I felt it. No filler, just catnip inside. Well, that was new. Most of the catnip toys at the pet store were filled with cotton wadding along with some catnip. No filler here. Just a banana full of nip. Small wonder they cost more (well worth it!)
Token has worn out his banana since Christmas Day. It’s not torn to shreds. Somehow the canvas covering on this new banana withstood all the biting and chewing and playing. It is, however, flat as a pancake so I ordered 2 more for him and another for Misty, who is more delicate with her toys. My Chewy order arrived yesterday so Sandy got Tokens bananas today when she came to take me grocery shopping.
She called me half an hour after she left here to tell me that after she carried her own groceries into her home, Token was sitting in the kitchen crying. He jumped on the table where the grocery bags were and parked his still-crying self in front of the bag that held his beloved bananas. She gave him a banana, he grabbed it with his teeth, jumped off the table, and proceeded to the living room where he started tossing it around and retrieving it himself.
I wish that our lives could be so simple that a little toy could cause such unlimited joy. Until then, I’ll just enjoy and spoil the cats who are enjoying their toys so vigorously.

Thank you jotter for the awesome image magic!
Well, since this episode is about pooties and their toys, I won’t decry the lack of pooties in the picture quilt.
