It is the beginning of primary season. I joined DKos in 2005. I survived the Hillary-Obama pie fights. I missed the 2015-6 Bernie-Hillary battles because we didn't have Wi-Fi. Anything I posted was from the public library. I am actually glad I did. I was a Bernie fan who had no issue voting for Hillary. She wasn't my first choice, because she was too much of a centrist and too pro-business for my taste. When you considered the alternative, however, voting for her was easy.
It is that time again. Every Kossack has a favorite horse in this race. If you don't have one yet, you will soon enough. The pie fights are already starting.
There is no perfect candidate. Each candidate has strengths and weaknesses, positions some will enthusiastically back while others will equally strongly dislike them. Moderates will consider Bernie and the further left candidates too far left and thus unable to win over independents. Left-!eaning progressives will point out that Hillary was supposed to appeal to independents and failed to carry the day. There will be endless squabbles, some of which have the capacity of going from pie fights and into personal down-and-dirty battles with name-calling and insults. Sooner or later one will win the primaries, and become the Democratic standard bearer. Many of us will be disappointed.
Do not let what happened in 2008and 2016 happen again. We cannot afford PUMAs and Never Hillarys this time around. Mourn your favorite's loss, feel your disappointment and then GET THE HELL OVER IT.
We don't have the luxury of hurt feelings and putting our noses in the air because the Dem candidate is not perfect. We don't have the luxury of staying home from the polls as a protest. We cannot afford to lose this election.
Let me repeat that, and, yes, I am shouting.
WE CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE THIS ELECTION.
Unless Trump is impeached (don't count on it), dies in office ( always a possibility) or resigns (he is too arrogant), he will most likely be the nominee. If one of the three happier possibilities occurs, we will likely have Pence to face off against, and he is a card carrying member of the Religious Right. We cannot allow Trump or Pence or even one of their so-called moderates who aren't actually moderates to win in 2020 for the sake of our country
So we have to come together and support the primary winner. It will be much easier if we haven't eviscerated and insulted each other during primary season. Civility will help alot.
Because United we stand, and divided we fall. Remember that
DIVIDED.
WE.
FALL.
