This evening, talking with Chris Hayes on his show, Elizabeth Warren said that instead of calling Big Donors to ask them for donations, she was going to call the regular folks who were donating $5-50 to her campaign to thank them for donating. Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s decision to block big donors from having special access to her presidential campaign amounts to voluntary disarmament …. the Warren camp is betting the move to ban donor calls, private donor meetings and high-dollar private fundraisers will elevate her as the principled leader in a crowded primary race, one in which she has issued among the most stringent self-imposed presidential campaign finance restrictions in modern history.
In appreciation for her approach to campaign financing and commitment to overturning Citizen’s United, along with so many other things, I sent her an on-line donation.
Almost as soon as the Chris Hayes show was over, my phone rang. My phone showed No Caller ID, so I assumed it was a sales or polling group robot. As a result, I was a little taken aback when a real person with a rather familiar voice said my first name.
I was stunned when that person said, “It’s Elizabeth, Elizabeth Warren.”
Talk about walking the talk!
It had only been minutes ago when my Husband and I were listening to her on the TV chatting with Chris Hayes about her campaign financing decision and heard her say she’d be calling people on the phone!
And, there she was.
On MY phone.
Talking with me.
We chatted for a few minutes, and I got to share how our family has followed her career over the years, and to thank her for fighting the good fight over all those years.
Kudos, Senator Warren, for walking the talk in such a timely and personal way!
