I just wanted to write a quick diary about a segment aired today on MSNBC, wherein National Review editor David French makes the astonishingly dishonest and moronic declaration that there is no problem with money in politics today because Americans spend much more money on their pets than they do in buying political ads.
He then doubles down and argues that money in politics serves the civic function of educating voters, rather than pushing lies, distortions, propaganda, building up boogie-men, and creating an overall sense of fear, despair, and disgust with representative democracy.
See the clip here, wherein Stephanie Ruhle does a pretty OK job of responding to part of this idiocy.

But really this one needs much more attention and response. Is there really where the National Review is coming from these days? This guy is the heir of William Buckley? This is an argument that would be torn to shreds in a debate of 8th graders.
