When disgraced Baptist preacher and alleged election fraud pay-master, Mark Harris (R), issued his unsurprising statement today announcing he would not seek the GOP’s re-nomination for the upcoming do-over election in North Carolina’s 9th congressional district, he slipped in an endorsement for little-known Union County commissioner Stony Rushing (R).
Stony what now? Never heard of him. So of course I rushed to my computer.
I can’t remember ever having more laughs doing just a couple of minutes of oppo research on Google. If you thought the original NC09 contest was colorful...what with Harris assuring female voters that their place is in the kitchen and all...you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.
In this crazed 12/18/19 “open letter to Mark Harris” (above), Rushing decried “a corrupt Board of Elections,” “Democrat Party wrongdoing,” the “lack of evidence concerning McCrae Dowless doing anything illegal,” and “spiritual wickedness in high places.”
In a December 17 interview with WSOC TV in Charlotte (a month before the State Board of Elections hearing that revealed Harris’s involvement in election fraud in NC09), Rushing stated confidently
“I will put my reputation on Mark Harris that he has not done anything illegal in this.”
Public service announcement: please report all sightings of Stony Rushing’s lost reputation to the NC-GOP.
In short, recently-risen-from-obscurity Stony Rushing may be the most qualified candidate ever to join the U.S. House of Representatives’ Republican caucus.
Either that, or the NC-GOP has anointed him merely in hope of capturing the votes of pot smokers who aren’t paying attention.
We’re going to need massive emergency shipments of popcorn down here in North Carolina as this do-over election unfolds, with all-hat-no-horse clowns like ol’ Stony here running against a vindicated and distinguished Iraq War veteran (and great campaigner) like Dan McCready (D).
You can help us turn Stony Rushing back into Stony Lonesome with your donation to Dan McCready’s campaign.
