House Democrats want post-Cohen interviews with Don Jr. and Ivanka

The six hours of congressional testimony delivered Wednesday by Donald Trump's former lawyer and fixer Michael Cohen left a trail of breadcrumbs that House Democrats plan to follow to its source.

“All you have to do is follow the transcript," Elijah Cummings, House Oversight chair, told reporters of the Cohen hearing. "If there are names that were mentioned or records that were mentioned during the hearing, we want to take a look at all of that.”

There were names, all right, including Don Jr., Ivanka Trump, and longtime Trump Organization CFO Allen Weisselberg, who came up a lot in Cohen's testimony. All of those folks "have a good chance of hearing from us," Cummings said.

Don Jr. and Weisselberg surfaced in relation to the hush money reimbursement scheme that Cohen laid out in vivid detail during his testimony. Cohen also said he briefed Don Jr. and Ivanka on the Trump Tower Moscow deal nearly a dozen times, a complete departure from what Don Jr. told Congress in his 2017 testimony. Junior told lawmakers he knew "very little" about the deal and was only "peripherally aware" of it.

Exactly which House committees will call whom isn't clear, since several committees have undertaken investigations in different areas. But Don Jr., Ivanka, and Weisselberg, who is already cooperating with federal investigators, shouldn't stray too far from the phone.
