Tonight at the Superbowl, we will see a gaggle of new commercials, some funny, some goofy, some naughty, some clever, some musical, all eye-catching and all designed to make us pull up our iPads and order them products ASAP. And for many of us, the commercials are more entertaining and satisfying than the game.
Here are a few of my favorite commercial from 2018, most making striking use of music. In some cases, I have included a music video of the original artist. Hopefully, a few similar ads will be featured tonight. Enjoy.
MINI USA, Don’t Fence me In by Labrinth
Volvo, Mozart’s The Magic Flute – Queen of the Night, by Emily M Cheung
Alfa Romeo, Wicked Game, by Annaca, music by Ursine Vulpine
Transitions Lenses Commercial, by Parov Stelar - The Sun
Mitsubishi, Damien Escobar and William Joseph, a reimagined version of “I Wanna Rock” by Twisted Sister.
JOY By DIOR, Rolling Stones
Toyota, You are so beautiful to me, by various artists
Tesla fan-made commercial

For old time’s sake, a Classic from 1991 — Ray Charles
Suzuki, 1982, Michael Jackson :-)
And a few more from antiquity. Not all are music-rich, but are interesting nevertheless.
The Apple Macintosh, 1984.
And a kinder gentler Commodore 64 commercial from a year before, Beatles tune
IBM 5100 (First Portable Computer) commercial 1977
IBM's Selectric Typewriter 1960's
Maybe it’s just me but most of the best music-rich commercials are car commercials.
What are some of your favorite commercials?
