According to this morning’s Austin American Statesman, a Quinnipiac poll released Thursday has either Joe Biden or Beto O’Rourke in a statistical tie with Trump! Both democrats polled at 46% to Trump’s 47%. This is great news for the 2020 elections.
Personally I would prefer a ticket with a woman as Presidential candidate and Beto as VP candidate. I believe it is time for our country to put its leadership in the hands of a woman. I feel that Biden and Bernie, though great candidates with awesome backgrounds, would be a poor choice for the Democratic Party when the entire country is humming with the vibrancy of the new female leadership in congress. It’s time for that kind of leadership at the helm of the nation.
I haven’t had the opportunity yet to fully evaluate all the declared candidates, but of those I’ve researched or watched interviews with I like Senator Harris and Senator Klobuchar.
Putting Beto on the ticket as VP really puts pressure on the GOP to defend Texas. The metro markets in Texas (Houston, San Antonio, Dallas, and Austin) are expensive places to campaign. The week prior to the 2018 election Beto and Cruz campaigns had spent over $92 million according to opensecrets.org. After the disappointing election results, I doubt Texas will flip blue in 2020, but it will be close enough to force the GOP to spend in a state they’ve safely ignored until 2018.
