Have you been wondering where High Impact Stories has gone?
Our favorite data nerd is in the hospital! jotter had serious surgery on March 6th to remove part of his liver. The surgery went well and his liver enzymes are coming down as his remaining liver is taking on the task of filtering his blood.

...I finally got to go see Glenn [jotter] in the ICU about 6pm. Everyone is amazed at how well he is going after such a big surgery. He has been pretty lucid and is on only periodic doses of morphine, after he explained to the nursing staff why dilaudid won’t work on him. Plenty of tubes and bags, and fancy equipment with blinking lights but the reports are all good so far. They will try to get him up a bit tomorrow. I will stay with him tonight. He seems to be sleeping comfortably now. His nurse tonight has been great. So far, so good.

Glenn continues to exceed expectations for his recovery. He might move from the ICU to a regular hospital room tomorrow. The second attempt to get him up out of bed went well. His pain is being managed effectively with less than the maximum dose of morphine. The liver team came by to check him out as well as an occupational therapist and a physical therapist, who successfully got Glenn out of bed and standing up briefly. Not out of the woods yet, but by all the things they are measuring, recovery is going well. I will update when Glenn gets to a regular room and might be able to welcome phone calls or visits. Many thanks for all the good wishes.
