I am so bloody tired of coughing. The hot honey/whiskey lemonade has helped, but not as much as I’d hoped. On the other hand, the buckwheat honey (which I really like) covers the whiskey taste (which I heartily dislike — even though it is Jameson’s) very nicely. I only just realized this week that I’ve been misspelling Jameson’s for years — told you I didn’t like the stuff. I figure if I finish out the week with this, I should be fine.
As you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here. We care!
IAN is a great group to join, and a good place to learn to write diaries. Drop one of us a PM to be added to the Itzl Alert Network anytime! We all share the publishing duties, and we welcome everyone who reads IAN to write diaries for the group! Every member is an editor, so anyone can take a turn when they have something to say, photos and music to share, a cause to promote or news!

Twenty-three blue glass beads found in 3400-year-old Nordic graves were made by the same workshop that decorated Tutankhamen’s grave goods.
The World Wide Web is now 30 years old. One of the more famous of its originators has written a letter about it to commemorate. He isn’t happy with much of what is being done with it.
A site under Chichin Itza that was discovered and sealed back up in 1966 or thereabouts is being excavated. There are some spectacular finds, apparently.

I’ve started using the Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee my second gave me for Christmas. Very nice.
It’s happened again. One off-the-cuff smartass remark on Pi Day, and the chain of comments just kept getting longer.
My grandson has been sick. His mother decided to not expose anybody who hadn’t already been, so no Chess Club, but the rest of our Wednesday arrangements, involving one of his classmates and some babysitting for his sister, remained in place. He stayed home on Thursday. I think I may have had what he’s complaining of, though it manifested for me as an intermittent earache rather than a sore throat like the kid has. If so, mine was gone in a couple of days — and he was fine on Friday. The slightly swollen glands in the neck were what made me think this.
Last Monday, my grandson and I spent an hour on the playground after school because his sister’s ceramics class isn’t over till tomorrow and it ends at 5 PM. One of the kindergartners in the Chess Club came over to say hello and we had a very nice conversation — this is one of the kids who insists he already knows what he needs to about chess. Away from a chessboard, he’s a real sweetie.

One thing I managed to get done this past week was my annual doctor and dentist appointments. My eye checkups get split into two these days — I get the basic exam and my new prescription in October and in April, the medical checks happen. This appointment has been set up since October, and the only issue is making sure my daughter’s ex takes both kids to school on the day. My dental exam and cleaning are late morning and won’t interfere with either school delivery or pickup on that particular day. For my annual physical, I have to be there when I am ordinarily picking the kids up from school — my daughter says there are a couple of options and I don’t have to worry about it. Good.
