I don’t want to wade into this issue again, but the House Democratic Leadership seems to demand we all bow to their foreign policy or else. They are doing so in stark opposition to the core foundation of a liberal democracy. As a Liberal Democrat, I can’t ignore this.
House Dems push resolution to condemn global anti-Israel boycotts ahead of AIPAC
Seriously? What right does congress have to tell me or anyone else what political expression is appropriate? What right does congress have to say which political group has a right to assemble?
This is obscene plain and simple, and anyone who defends this kind of action is being short sighted. I am not a member of the BDS movement, and believe there are legitimate arguments why it does more harm than good, but how can anyone, who swore an oath to our constitution, believe that the government is the final arbiter of those arguments. This will not reduce hostility toward Israel or AIPAC. This will grow it exponentially.
There are Democrats using legislation to divide the Democratic Party. For what?
There is no part of this, which isn’t a blatant violation of the first amendment. Some versions of the legislation even threaten federal contracts of those, who engage in the BDS movement.
If the federal government said that Mormons weren’t allowed to bid on government contracts or that members of Black Lives Matter couldn’t, imagine the hell we would raise here.
I don’t recognize the values of my party reflected in the House leadership. This is bullshit, and no honest person can tell me otherwise.
