My life of service began with the military. After 25 years on active duty, I decided to retire. But sitting at home is not who I am. So I continued to serve.
As a member of my Daughters of the Revolution chapter, I was the emcee for one of our annual Flag Day ceremonies. I have volunteered for many political campaigns and run for office myself. I even coached a my little nephew’s soccer team.
Today we turned in all of the petitions of registered voters to secure my position on the ballot! Many thanks go out to the good people who helped me collect over 400 signatures. And many thanks to the voters who signed those petitions. That is how democracy works.
It is time to turn the Virginia State Senate blue. And that path to a Democratic majority goes straight through Virginia’s 7th Senate District. Now I know I am in a three-way primary. But I am not deterred, because my story is the character of the 7th Senate District. I am retired military. I am a community volunteer. I am a political volunteer and leader. I am a dog person (no one owns their puppy). I care about my community, and I listen to people. I am also wiser from the lessons that I learned from my previous runs for political office and my term as Vice Chair of our city committee.
My experience working on the flightdeck of an aircraft carrier proves my personal mettle.
I have the heart, the work ethic, and the thick skin to persevere through the primary and go on to win in November.
Please join me on my journey to the Virginia Senate!
