I’m burned out on the all Mueller Report all the time. It’s time to pivot back to our main mission which is to elect Democrats and unelect Trump.
If you live in Texas and are getting over-saturated with the Mueller report why not do some campaigning as a positive alternative. Beto officially kicks off his campaign in Texas on Saturday March 30 with events in El Paso, Houston and Austin. The times and locations are in the photo but if you have trouble reading it they are on his Facebook page. If you are in the area please get out and at least give him a listen and report back what you think. Who knows you might even get a Willie Nelson concert in Austin.
My current support for O’Rourke is largely pragmatic. He brings two particularly strong points to the table. He’s from Texas and with his strong performance against Cruz I believe he has a great chance of winning it as a native son. Texas has 38 electoral votes. Winning the same HRC EV map plus Texas puts a Democrat in the White House with exactly 270 votes. Absent TX the GOP has no likely path to 270 EVs.
You can win without Texas but you almost can’t lose with it.
Correct me if this is wrong. Beto is the only candidate running from a state which isn’t already blue and would vote for a Democratic nominee no matter who it is.
It’s a traditional strategy to have one side of the ticket from a swing state. In 1960 JFK choose LBJ as VP specifically to win Texas and the South so the move has precedence. While they won the smallest popular vote margin in history to that time, they won the EVs by 303 to 219 for Nixon with 15 for Senator Harry Byrd D (Dixiecrat)
Winning the Presidency isn’t just about popularity, policy and charisma although they are important. Winning is checking off the right boxes in the Electoral College and you don’t govern if you don’t win.
Texas voted Democratic from 1871 until it swung Republican in 1976 following the Civil Rights Act. Between 2000 and 2016 Democrats have incrementally chipped away 8% of the Republican tally. With a purple trend, flipping Texas could mean it would finally come home to it’s blue roots. This is a unique opportunity. If for no other reason Beto O'Rourke deserves a place on the Democratic ticket in 2020.

Please share campaign information, rallies, and events for and about your candidate or in fact any candidate. While I’m tentatively supporting Beto, in my opinion it’s too early to make a hard choice. For me attending any Democratic campaign event would be more productive than reading another speculative Mueller Report article. The system will work through that without a lot of help from us but the Primary needs our attention and is a lot more fun.
Please bring back photos. They are so much more informative than however the media spins the event.
