This is my first DailyKos story. I’ve been extremely stressed out about the climate catastrophe our world is facing; in fact it’s pretty much the only issue that matters to me and will inform my voting choices in the next year and beyond.
I’ve been concerned about climate change since the 90s and I always bought what they told us about nuclear power: that it was the deadliest, most dangerous source of power, worse than carbon. Three Mile Island and Chernobyl both happened during my lifetime, and I was young and impressionable when I learned of them. I was all about “No Nukes.”
I recently came across this article, “Why Renewables Can’t Save the Planet,” and found it very compelling. Considering that a Green New Deal is on the table, I think it’s important to make nuclear power part of the conversation. What I learned from this article and from its source website, Environmental Progress, came as a surprise.
I’m hoping folks will take the time to read this and peruse the website and that it will spark interest and discussion.
