Assange pushed and pushed until there was no more, patience that is. The love affair between the Ecuadorian government and Assange ended after what appeared to be a lopsided relationship. Petty claims from the Ecuadorian Embassy as to Assange’s hygiene, lack of housekeeping, and arrogance. Perhaps the straw that broke the Ecuadorian government’s back, was Assange divulging Ecuadorian secrets to the world while living within the confines and protection of the same and according to the Ecuadorians, spreading feces on the walls of his Embassy hideout. What a vain, arrogant Bastard.
I get that he’s a cyber hero too many, but to me he’s nothing but a bad mannered, arrogant scumbag criminal hacker that effectively turned at least one of our military personnel into a traitor, divulging information not meant for foreign government’s prying eyes, placing U.S. and foreign government agents lives at risk.
An online publication, “The Bulwark,” puts it like this. There is no great need to rehash Assange’s life story, other than to say that he is an odious fool whose arrogance in service of a cockamamie ideology helped him to do a great deal of damage to America and its intelligence sources abroad as a witting tool of the world’s most evil regimes. As the curtain is pulled back, however, this may be a helpful moment to dispense with the final vestiges of the fantasy of Assange as some sort of online Robin Hood.
Finally, seven years later, Assange may soon get what he has coming to him, jail time.
