For the second time in three years, a Daily Kos Cartoonist has been named one of the three finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in editorial cartooning. Our own Ruben Bolling, was recognized by the Pulitzer Prize Committee:
For pointed political commentary, informed by comics history, that provided readers nuanced satire of the Trump phenomenon.
Ruben Bolling’s cartoons appear every Thursday at Daily Kos (full disclosure: I am a subscriber to the artist’s “Inner Hive,” although I have never met him). Please join me in congratulating him for a well-deserved nomination.
This year’s winner was another worthy cartoonist, Darrin Bell. The other finalist was Rob Rogers, who was recently fired by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette for doing cartoons critical of Tr*mp.
An interesting aside: Two individual winners for the Washington Post--Carlos Lozado (Criticism) and Lorenzo Tugnoli (Photography)--came to America as immigrants. We are better for their contributions.
