The BBC on Thursday night air a major new documentary showing the urgency of making changes to avert increasing global warming. This video is part of BBC’s Breakfast show interviewing two contributers. The clip starts with David Attenborough’s warning to camera but the interview itself makes some good points.
From the BBC Schedule.
After one of the hottest years on record, Sir David Attenborough looks at the science of climate change and potential solutions to this global threat. Interviews with some of the world’s leading climate scientists explore recent extreme weather conditions such as unprecedented storms and catastrophic wildfires. They also reveal what dangerous levels of climate change could mean for both human populations and the natural world in the future.
The documentary shows some of the demonstrable effects of global warming on the United States.
The programme highlights the threat posed by rising waters to people living on the Isle de Jean Charles in Louisiana, forcing them from their homes.
"In the US, Louisiana is on the front line of this climate crisis. It's losing land at one of the fastest rates on the planet - at the rate of of a football field every 45 minutes," says Colette Pichon Battle, a director of the Gulf Coast Center for Law & Policy www.bbc.co.uk/...
The documentary is timely with major London routes still blocked by Extinction Rebellion protestors with threats of disruption at Heathrow airport on Good Friday when many get away for a short holiday abroad, despite arrests.
