I don’t really write many diaries here anymore, I usually get beat to it by others and I don’t get to comment as often as i’d like. I’ve seen the generosity of the community here and so I am taking a shot to try and help an extended family member get back on his feet, literally.
My wife’s cousin, Luis, lives in El Salvador. He was an active guy, he played soccer, was big on sports and weight lifting and in general healthy. One day he dislocated his knee. Some friends took him to a hospital there and they set his knee in a cast but didn’t do much else. A few hours later he was in excruciating pain and went back to the hospital. Due to the doctors not doing much else when they initially set the leg blood flow had been cut off and they said they had to amputate. He tried getting a second opinion elsewhere but they said the same thing. They took his leg below the knee and gave him a rather cheap prosthesis (this is el salvador). He had another accident where he fell coming down the stairs and the prosthesis broke. He needs a new one, but unfortunately there’s no “insurance” in el salvador and to get a better one he has started a go fund me. You can read more about him and see the whole story here.
I know I don’t write on here enough to be that well known or have much “cred” but it would mean the world to me to see this guy back on his feet. I’ve met him and hung out with him when we visited El Salvador and he’s a really good dude. Thanks for taking the time to read this and thanks for donating. It really means a lot.
