More people now favor impeaching Trump 45% than oppose 42%. www.reuters.com/...
I stumbled across some polling done by Economist/YouGov. I’ll present them in pairs. The first question of the pair is the premise, the 2nd question of the pair asks about impeachment based on the premise.
In general you’ll find more people favor impeachment than oppose it. With Democrats it’s a clear majority that favor impeachment. Also of note is the large section of “Not Sure” still out there ready for some convincing.
Trump accepting Russian Assistance
Question 26. Do you think Donald Trump accepted Russian assistance during the 2016 presidential campaign, or not?
41% think Trump accepted Russian assistance, 38% don’t think so, 21% not sure. For Democrats 79% think he accepted assistance, 10% don’t think so, 11% not sure.
Now for the question of Impeachment based on that question.
Question 29B. Would you favor Impeachment if — Donald Trump accepted Russian assistance during the 2016 presidential campaign.
If Trump accepted Russian assistance, 46% favor impeachment, 31% oppose, 23% not sure. For Democrats, if Trump accepted Russian assistance, 76% favor impeachment, 10% oppose, 14% not sure.
Trump Obstruction of Justice
Question 28. Do you think Donald Trump has committed obstruction of justice with regards to the special counsel’s investigation in to Russian interference during the 2016 presidential campaign, or not?
So again 41% think Trump committed obstruction of justice, 38% don’t thinks so, 21% not sure. For Democrats 76% think Trump committed obstruction of justice, 10% don’t think so, 14% not sure.
Question 29D. Would you favor Impeachment if — Donald Trump has committed obstruction of justice with regards to the special counsel’s investigation in to Russian interference during the 2016 presidential campaign
If Trump committed obstruction of justice, 47% think he should be impeached, 31% don’t think so, 22% don’t know. For Democrats if Trump committed obstruction of justice, 80% think he should be impeached, 9% don’t think so, 11% not sure.
The numbers favor impeachment. It’s the duty of the Democrats we sent to Congress to defend the Constitution. Trump is violating his Oath of Office. So let’s get on with it in the next few months. There’s plenty of “not sure” out there who we can win over to our side when evidence is produced. Evidence is more likely to be produced if under an impeachment inquiry. The impeachment inquiry will reveal embarrassing information about Trump and Republican corruption and obstruction. This will help us hold the House and take the Senate and White House.
