After a highly successful start in New York City, the Bite Me team is now on the road. As I write this, the Bitemobile is fitted out and tooling along on I-95, somewhere between Philadelphia (last night’s locale) and the University Mall Theatres in Fairfax, Virginia, where the flick will be screened at 7:30 EDT tonight. The rest of this week, the Joyful Vampire Tour of America will land in:
From there, after one more stop in the Tarheel State, they’ll move into the Deep South … Georgia, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana.
You’ll be able to follow the progress of the Joyful Vampire Tour of America in their series of mini-documentaries on YouTube. Those will feature interviews, financial reports, and other business updates along with the travelogue and Vampire Shindig/Ball snippets. Here’s the first on-the-road report:
Which brings up some points not mentioned in my previous diary about the Joyful Vampire Tour of America. While I reported that Bite Me is woman-written, woman-directed, and largely woman-financed, that didn’t capture the real import of those factors for Naomi McDougall Jones. Naomi is a crusading activist for women in film, and not only as a writer/actor. Her TED talk “What It’s Like To Be A Woman In Hollywood” has been viewed over 1.1 million times. Her book The Wrong Kind of Woman: Dismantling the God of Hollywood is due out from Beacon Press early next year.
Finally, as a non-devotee (to put it mildly) thereof, I hadn’t even thought about listing the social media locations for Bite Me. Making up for my shortsightedness:
