“Thank you for being a part of our campaign. Let’s do this together and fight for the best of who we are!” … and just like that… with just a cat, some swag and a hand-written note, I’m filled again with a sense of pride as I sit here thinking about the candidate I’ve chosen to support with everything I’ve got. No doubts, no regret… “Let’s fight for the best of who we are!”
I hope everyone’s ready for this Happy Saturday… err… Caturday Roundup!
Cheers to the amazing Democratic Majority in the House of Representatives! Tell me again how there wasn’t a Blue Wave… oh never mind…
The Equality Act is a bill in the United States Congress, that, if passed, would amend the Civil Rights Act to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, housing, public accommodations, public education, federal funding, credit, and the jury system.
As of 2019, 30 states have not outlawed LGBT discrimination, with members of the LGBT community being given very little protection at a national level and two-thirds of LGBT Americans reporting having experienced discrimination in their personal lives.
My celebration was quiet. More whispered prayers of thanks and silent tears than “hip hip hooray!”, because as significant as this is, I don’t suffer from the illusion that this will pass the current U.S. Senate.
I could be wrong, of course… Mitch will not only bring this up for an immediate vote, but also have 11-12 Republicans lined up behind him who are ready to vote “Yea” together with every Democratic Senator, including Manchin… sigh
One thing’s for certain — we have a fighter in the U.S. Senate on our side, one with a long history of always fighting for those of us in the LGBTQ* community — not just with words, but with fierce actions and advocacy. If anyone can convince her colleagues... “Do you or do you not support equality for every American?”… “yes or no, please”…
My fellow LGBTQ* activist and one of my favorite people on Twitter, Lisa Talmadge, brings all the receipts. Start at the top of her thread, read on through, and be proud of Kamala — she’s earned it.
As a gay man, Kamala has earned a place at my table and no other candidate even comes close. Not one.
In her own words

Group Guidelines
The Kamala2020 community group has been created to positively support Senator Kamala Harris, and not to engage in negativity towards other community members or any other Democrats running in the 2020 primaries.
All should be made to feel welcomed here. What’s not welcomed here is petty bickering over any of our preferred candidates, or personal attacks on fellow Democrats. We’re not responsible for the actions of others who may offend, insult or attempt to sow discord and disunity — that’s on them.
What we are responsible for are our own words and actions — that’s 100% on us.
I’d like to ask all group members, as well as those dropping by who support or are interested in Kamala’s bid for the nomination, that we not respond to negativity from other campaign’s supporters with negativity. Let’s do better than our best and respond with respect, humor or try to hold our peace. Doing no harm costs us nothing... pie-fights will cost us everything.
💙Happy Saturday Joyful Warriors! 💙
