Huge shout out to our fighting men and women who keep this country safe. Its been a pretty rough weekend for me, we’ve been short handed at work so I’ve needed to step up, but that isn’t gonna stop be from bringing the good news.
ES MOINES, Iowa – Sen. John McCain repeatedly compared President Donald Trump to a dictator during the president’s inaugural address, Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, a candidate for the 2020 Democratic nomination and friend of the now-deceased Arizonan, told a crowd of voters here.
Klobuchar, speaking to a crowd of more than 200 at Jasper’s Winery, said she sat next to McCain, one of Trump’s most outspoken Republican critics, and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) during the inaugural address, which became known for its blunt expression of Trump’s authoritarian populism and invocations of “American carnage.”
“I sat on that stage between Bernie and John McCain, and John McCain kept reciting to me names of dictators during that speech because he knew more than any of us what we were facing as a nation,” she said. “He understood it. He knew because he knew this man more than any of us did.”
Oof, even from beyond the grave McCain is still throwing shade on Trump.
President Trump’s tweets have less of an impact now than they did two years ago.
Trump is inexorably associated with his favorite form of social media — Twitter. And while the quantity Trump’s tweets have increased, the impact of those tweets has decreased, according to a report by Axios.
The president’s “interaction rate” has been on the decline since taking office. The interaction rate is a metric that is used to measure engagement among Twitter users and considers retweets and likes divided by the amount of Twitter followers, to determine the overall impact of a given post.
In November 2017, Trump’s interaction rate sat at 0.55%, later dropping to 0.32% in June 2017. As of this month, that it has declined to a 0.16% interaction rate. At the same time, the pace of Trump’s tweets has increased. The president tweeted 157 times per month during his first six months in office — that number has increased to 284 times per month over the last six months.
This does not bode well for Trump at all. I’ve accepted that his most fanatical base will never turn on Trump, but they may eventually get bored of him, which is what happens when you deal with the guy day in and out.
Democrats should not stop investigating President Trump over his threats to end work with them on legislation, Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) said Wednesday in an appearance on "The Late Show with Stephen Colbert."
The presidential candidate said it would be wrong for her party to cave to Trump.
"He's going to hold America's infrastructure hostage ... over the issue of the investigation," Harris said.
Yeah, Trump? You already tried this before to get your border wall and it didn’t work then either. You piece of garbage.
Rep. Rashida Tlaib said Sunday morning that House Democrats are “moving toward” a consensus that it’s time to weigh impeachment as an option.
The Michigan Democrat, who has been one of the most vocal advocates for impeaching President Donald Trump, said that the impeachment debate should be about holding Trump accountable, not about what it means for the 2020 presidential election.
“This is not about the 2020 election,” she said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” “It’s about doing what’s right now for our country. This is going to be a precedent that we set when we don’t hold this president accountable to the rule of the law and to the United States Constitution.”
Its coming, sooner or later its coming. Trump wants a fight he’s gonna get it.
President Donald Trump is little more than a “studio gangster” who “pretends to be a tough guy,” House Democratic Caucus Chairman Hakeem Jeffries said Sunday morning.
“You know, the president didn’t just walk out on a meeting with [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi and infrastructure, Chuck. He walked out on the American people,” the New York Democrat told “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd.
Trump walked out of an infrastructure meeting with Democrats last week, effectively ending negotiations for the time being, stating that he wouldn’t resume work with them until they stop investigating him.
Friendly reminder that no one has any respect for this guy. Nor should they.
That’s it for this week, and keep fighting the good fight.

Update (Edited by 2thanks, Tuesday morning): As an Admin of the Good News Roundup group, I’ve deleted text from this diary:
- Part of the title: “Happy Memorial Day!”
- The first sentence: “Happy Memorial day everyone!”
- Part of the last sentence: “Have a happy Memorial Day”
I made this change in response to my friend Vetwife’s comment which she posted almost 2 hours after Jessie posted the diary, and due to Jessie’s absence. Jessie has not commented on site for more than 24 hours (I hope Jessie is okay).
Vetwife said: “Please, change the title. I cannot rec a post that has Happy and Memorial in the same sentence. There is nothing Happy about Memorial Day. It is a sad time for veterans still suffering from the trauma of war, both physically and mentally. It is like saying ‘Did you have a good day at the funeral?’ ”
If Jessie had been available, I think and hope they would have changed the title and first and last sentences.
With apologies to Jessiestaf for censoring their work, ~2thanks.
