We are finished with the round of sixteen, into the quarterfinals. As a recap, the last two games were clear wins, with Beto O’Rourke defeating Joe Biden, and Pete Buttigieg knocking off Julian Castro.
So, what have we learned so far? Well, our voters are consistent, as all five group winners advanced. Of the remaining three, the only “upset” was from John Delaney, who defeated Tulsi Gabbard. Gabbard was the beneficiary of a system of people withdrawing from her group, though, so it’s not a shock.
So, looking ahead, our next two matches feature the two top women in the field. Kamala Harris and Elizabeth Warren are set to face off, but first need to take care of business with Jay Inslee and John Delaney, respectively. In the other bracket, it will be an interesting set of matches with Amy Klobuchar facing Bernie Sanders, the only match between two group winners, and the youngest match between Beto O’Rourke and Pete Buttigieg.
We will resume Thursday.
