From the time Kamala began prosecuting violent criminals as the deputy district attorney in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, to then becoming the managing attorney of the Career Criminal Unit of the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, “It’s always been on behalf of the people.”
Kamala went on to lead the San Francisco City Attorney's Division on Families and Children, and then she made history, against all odds, and was elected and then re-elected as San Francisco’s District Attorney. She again made history when she was elected as California’s Attorney General. “It’s always been on behalf of the people.”
During Kamala’s 20 year’s of experience as a prosecutor, of course there are cases and positions that she can be criticized for — I don’t expect her, or anyone else, to be perfect. Kamala’s been attacked from the right and the far left and still won election and re-election as DA, AG and then won her election to become California’s junior senator.
Kamala never ran from her record or shied away from criticism — she simply wrote two books about it. Smart On Crime: A Career Prosecutor's Plan to Make Us Safer, and The Truths We Hold: An American Journey.
And in her own words:
I’m not looking for perfection, I’m looking for a fighter. I’m not looking for excuses, I’m looking for an advocate for me and mine. I’m looking for a “top cop” with the proven prosecutorial chops to effectively and decisively put an end to the criminality and corruption of the illigitimate occupant of the White House. Can you just imagine those debates?
No inexperienced, milquetoast, golly-gee-shucks-Republicans-aren’t-that-bad need apply. Not now, not after everything we’ve been through.
Some of us have been putting thought and heart to paper, and starting to tell our stories about why we support Kamala to be elected as the next President of the United States. I believe that expressing why, in our own words, is not only a worthwhile experience but also an imortant one. My own effort was inspired by Kamala’s staff during this past Wednesday’s Camp Kamala, and I hope everyone will take advantage of this community-building lesson, even if it’s only for yourselves right now.
I can’t imagine a better way for us to gain the confidence and conviction to talk to others about our candidate than to first answer the question “why” for ourselves. I believe that if we’re ever to experience the unimaginable joy and celebration of Kamala’s victory together with millions here and throughout the world, then it all starts with the determination and power of one.
Each one of us.
Perhaps it’s only natural that some of our stories are as painful as they are hopeful — the world that so many of us find ourselves living in has been turned upside-down and we’re all reeling from the daily assaults by this corrupt administration... but I haven’t talked to anyone ready to give up yet. For some of us, hope is all we have left, and speaking for myself, I’ll be damned if I ever give that up.
Kamala’s not the first politician to talk about a “crucial election”, nor the only one in our Democratic primaries talking about “this moment in time”. When Kamala talks about this being at an “inflection point in the history of our nation”, however, her sincerity and understanding of the complex challenges facing us impresses me. I believe her.
When she proclaims that she “won't leave anyone to fight alone“, her determination and fighting spirit inspires me. I believe her.
When she advocates for black women and her Maternity CARE Act, for my LGBTQ* community, for the middle class and her LIFT Act, for her EQUAL Defense Act and Do No Harm Act, Equal Pay and Teacher’s Pay, for Gun Control and Healthcare — only a few causes among so many — I believe her.
“It’s always been on behalf of the people.” I believe her.
This is who we’re fighting against, not one another

Group Guidelines
The Kamala2020 community group has been created to positively support Senator Kamala Harris, and not to engage in negativity towards other Democrats running in the 2020 primaries.
All should be made to feel welcomed here. What’s not welcomed here is petty bickering over any of our preferred candidates, or personal attacks on fellow Democrats. We’re not responsible for the actions of others who may offend, insult or attempt to sow discord and disunity — that’s on them.
What we are responsible for are our own words and actions — that’s 100% on us.
I’d like to ask all group members, as well as those dropping by who support or are interested in Kamala’s bid for the nomination, that we not respond to negativity from other campaign’s supporters with even more negativity. Let’s do better than our best and respond with respect, humor or try to hold our peace. Recipes and cat pics work, too 😃
Doing no harm costs us nothing... pie-fights will cost us everything.
💙 Have a great Tuesday! 💙
