I’m going to guess that I’m far from alone in having had more than enough sexist, racist, mansplaining, rationalization about every insult and abuse directed at women and people of color.
Before we continue, lets be clear.
This is my rant. Not Kamala’s or her campaign’s.
And it probably should have been its own stand along post. But I’m past tired. I’m past tired of worrying about the most vulnerable. I’m past tired of having to deal with the expectations of the entitled and privileged who are willing to throw the rest of us under the bus if it serves their own ends.
I do not make nice with Nazis, KKK loving, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti Semitic abusers.
And god knows I am all out of patience with those who do.
I’m not nearly as nice as Kamala. Perhaps “nice” isn’t the proper word. Lets put it this way, she has many more skills to draw on than I do, including years of experience walking this earth as a woman of color.
She has experienced and seen all the racism and sexism this country can vomit up.
As the other weekend proved, she’s still seeing it.
Neckbeard Manbun Grabs Mic From Kamala Harris, For Equality!
Kamala Harris was at MoveOn's Big Ideas forum Saturday discussing her plan to end the wage gap for women when some disheveled Cousin Itt stormed the stage and took Harris's microphone like she was a common Taylor Swift. The asshole didn't even promise to let her finish. Instead, he demanded the senator's attention for a "much bigger idea." Now, what did Douchebag Manbun think was more important than gender pay equity? Was it the free flow of kombucha? No, it had something to do with the "mass extinction of animals." We're not giving you any more than that because we're not helping this douchenozzle promote his cause. Anyway, this goofy white boy interrupted a badass black woman to lecture her about Lassie. Ain't that some shit?
[]
Manbun Neckbeard isn't facing any charges, which is ridiculous. Get out of our face with the "he seemed harmless" handwaving. White dude can look like the Unabomber and still enjoy the privilege of presumed innocence. His stupid stunt wasn't spontaneous….
The response to this idiot’s actions, the willful denial of the threat of violence that women face every damn day, has been blatantly obvious and infuriating.
Too many men may continue to deny, and thereby enable, the very real violence waged on women every day in this country. Women do not.
We know the statistics and the reality they represent. So does the former Attorney General of California.
It has been the continuation of a mind set that sees women as less than, an other only meant to serve, not lead, with no experience and abilities of one’s own.
It’s the continuation of a mind set that takes the Base of the Democratic Party for granted. It’s the continuation of a mind set that dismisses the real concerns of the women and people of color who are the Base of the Democratic Party. It’s the patronizing, entitled, expectation of too many in media and politics. It’s the world view of far too many who see women and people of color as less than deserving of merit, and consideration.
It’s a world view that represents a complete denial of how dangerous this GOP has been and is to women, people of color, the LGBTQ community, those with pre-existing conditions and disabilities, immigrants, and the poor.
It’s a world view that is an utter betrayal of the Base of the Democratic Party, a complete dismissal of the on-going war being waged on women, civil rights, LGBTQ rights, worker’s rights, the environment, and the rule of law.
I don’t vote for abusers or those who enable them.
I’m far from alone.
Pundits and politicos would do well to remember the Blue Wave election of last year. Women and people of color powered that historic win. Women and people of color will decide this Primary.
Not Independents. Not those less informed who are wistful for a long gone mythical time of “bipartisanship.” Anyone paying so little attention that they do not understand the reality of the last ten years of GOP obstruction should not be chased after or catered to. Anyone unwilling to find the courage to see the reality of today’s White Nationalist, Neo Nazi, racist, sexist, homophobic, traitorous GOP does not deserve to decide this country’s fate.
We don’t enable abusers. And we certainly do not vote for those who do.
It's past time for leadership, not pretense, and certainly not cowardice. It’s past time for this Nation’s women and people of color to be valued for their own considerable contributions and abilities. And for their power.
Last year’s Blue Wave election should have been taken far more seriously. That was the wake up call, the warning bell that business as usual was done.
Women and People of Color drove that wave. They will be the ones who drive this Primary and the General Election. Anyone not understanding that is going to lose. Neither group is going to tolerate being dismissed, talked down to, patronized, or manipulated. They have seen it all before.
None of the women running for the nomination are running to be on a man’s ticket as his vice --president.
The men of color running for the nomination are Rhodes Scholars and Harvard and Yale Law School graduates with extensive experience and policy expertise of their own.
The media silence around the women and men of color candidates is deafening. And all while Media won’t speak the truth of the White Nationalist GOP that is in the White House and controlling the Senate. Too many in politics won’t either.
The Democratic Base is not willing to suck it up yet again in order to pacify the cowardly, willfully ignorant, and entitled. Our lives are of value and deserve truth. We deserve leaders that have the courage and honesty to actually lead.
People need to stop asking us to make nice to racist, sexist, homophobic haters who revel in cruelty and lust for power. Because that is what far too many are asking, demanding, expecting.
That is what the Media’s silence allows.
We’re not having it.
We need and deserve those willing to speak truth to power.
This country needs to find its courage and face what is happening. Not pretend it is not.
For that we need a leadership that speaks truth to power —
- not someone who does a 2019 version of the Vischy French.
There are those running who understand that.
Others do not.
Only the former will win this nomination. Only the brave, those willing to speak truth and shame the devil, will deserve to be the next President of the United States.
We need a leadership of courage.
We have to be that.
We have to create that.
Our favored candidates must be that.
There is no going back in time to some mythical better days.
There is only going forward.
There is only shaping a better future for all who come after us.
There is work to do.
Let’s get it done.
Rant over

Group Guidelines
The Kamala2020 community group has been created to positively support Senator Kamala Harris, and not to engage in negativity towards other Democrats running in the 2020 primaries.
All should be made to feel welcomed here. What’s not welcomed here is petty bickering over any of our preferred candidates, or personal attacks on fellow Democrats. We’re not responsible for the actions of others who may offend, insult or attempt to sow discord and disunity — that’s on them.
What we are responsible for are our own words and actions — that’s 100% on us.
I’d like to ask all group members, as well as those dropping by who support or are interested in Kamala’s bid for the nomination, that we not respond to negativity from other campaign’s supporters with even more negativity. Let’s do better than our best and respond with respect, humor or try to hold our peace. Recipes and cat pics work, too 😃
Doing no harm costs us nothing... pie-fights will cost us everything.
Not putting up with the usual anymore.
