Massachusetts Rep. Joe Kennedy III announced Friday that he believes the moment is right for the House to launch an impeachment inquiry into Donald Trump, bringing the number of Democratic House impeachment supporters to 83, according to The Washington Post.
“I know it’s divisive, I know there are strong feelings about this, but I believe that when you have a president that’s willfully broken the law repeatedly to try to evade justice for various illegal acts, Congress has to hold him accountable,” Kennedy told WPRI.
The pro-impeachment camp also added a pretty cautious moderate to its ranks earlier this week with the addition of California Rep. Scott Peters, a member of the bipartisan group No Labels. Peters said Trump's violations were "more significant" than Watergate.
“If we don’t act, we send the message that criminal behavior is normal for presidents. Trump will be more emboldened to ignore Congress,” Peters tweeted Wednesday.
