Yesterday, Trump was entertained by the queen at an official state dinner. There were a lot of pomp and circumstance and all the major ministers were invited, except one notable absence, Sajid Javid, the home secretary. Now this is a pretty major position, as the home secretary is responsible for the internal affairs of England and Wales, customs and immigration along with security services and police. The home secretary is essentially the director for homeland security +++. In addition Sajid Javid is one of the leading contenders to drink from the poison chalice next, i.e. he is one of the leading contenders to become the next prime minister. That this person was not invited to the state dinner is not an oversight.
So the question is who and why? We have ourselves a good old fashioned who dunnit.
The suspects in addition to Miss Scarlet, Professor Plum, Mrs. Peacock, Mr. Green, Colonel Mustard, and Mrs. White are the following:
- The Queen herself. Possible motives: Plain old racism as Mr. Javid is a Muslim with Pakistani immigrant parents, or the queen was trying to send a signal about who she prefers to be the next prime minister. In my opinion probably not so likely as the queen is quite professional and would hurt the stance of the monarchy if she was interfering like this
- The queen’s staff: Possibly only if they think/know the queen is a racist and be offended by Mr. Javid’s presence
- May/Tory party: The Tories may be sending a subtle signal that Mr. Javid is not a leading contender for prime minister by freezing him out of an important occasion. Plain old racism could be the reason, or it could be that he was left out because they worried that Trump would balk at Mr. Javid, for him being a brown Muslim, or more likely that Trump would mistake him for the London Mayor Mr. Sadiq Khan, another prominent brown Muslim with immigrant parents, who which Trump is having a major feud with.
- Trump himself: Motives are obvious, like stupidity and racism.
- Trump’s staff: similar motives as May/Tories, minus the internal party politics.
My take on this is that it is either the Tories or Trump’s staff and the motive is that Trump would believe that Sajid Javid is Sadiq Khan, and someone was trying to prevent a Trump meltdown. This incident is very similar to the USS McCain incident where I also think it was the staff who did it to prevent a presidential meltdown.
What is your take?
