All this craziness going on in Trump World regarding our “UnAmerican Americans” - Congressional Reps. AOC of New York, Omar of Minnesota, Pressley of Massachusetts and Tlaib of Michigan - PLUS references by Lyndsey Graham of their being “Communists”, has really gone over the top and smacks of much more than mere racism.
These kinds of references and attacks may be the opening salvo of an attempted Right Wing coup upon America. Things are sounding more and more like Right Wing pre-Nazi Germany in the 1930’s.
And we are sure that the 1% would be very OK with a nationalistic turn where fascism controls the hungry masses while the rich run free and immune from the law. The police would just be there to protect the rich.
Anyway, without going off the deep end about the evils of Trump World, we point to something the Right always brings up – how great is Capitalism and how terrible is Communism.
First of all, Communism has NEVER existed. In its pure form, Communism would be a “Utopian” world inhabited by educated, thoughtful, conscious humans working together in total peace and harmony.
You might say the American Indians lived that way, but we are not sure of that because there often were downsides like human sacrifice and such – and often too much religious dogma.
Never-the-less, modern Communism has never existed. HOWEVER, a philosophy frequently confused with it HAS been around for a long time: SOCIALISM does exist, although Lyndsey Graham and the Right Wing refuse to acknowledge that Socialism is INDEED much different from Communism. Socialism is far more practical than Communism, while at the same time involves a level of social awareness and responsibility that is never even considered by Capitalism.
With pure Capitalism, money and the unregulated flow of money rules. With Socialism, while private ownership and the pursuit of profit (money) can certainly be allowed, the welfare of humans, animals, and environment existing therein defines its highest allegiance. Simply put, Socialism permits economic freedoms, but puts the quality of human experience first.
In present day America we see a country divided between the “haves” and the “have-nots”.
Since the likes of Lyndsey Graham and the Right have brought it up, maybe it is time to take a long hard look at Capitalism vs Socialism.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Our America today is dominated by its 1% richest owners. Too many Americans are ignorant, lazy or too stupid to realize that the real power is (and always has been) in their hands and in their numbers — the hundreds of millions of middle and lower class people.
But they have been blinded by the dazzle of wealth and the false hope that they indeed can possess such wealth, too. A pie in the sky for the overwhelming majority.
The 1% foments fear (immigrants), confusion (“fake news”), and in-fighting (Pelosi vs the Squad) among the people to maintain its iron grip on America.
Too many of our elected officials are money and power seeking whores.
Maybe Communism cannot work because of human weakness.
For sure, Capitalism has not served the people well, either. It used to serve us fairly well when it was more regulated and taxed in the 50’s and 60’s. However, it has become a deregulated run-away train over the past few decades. And just where it will crash, nobody knows!
Perhaps meeting Capitalism and Communism HALF WAY may hold the answer we seek today. Somewhere between the two — call it “Highly Regulated Capitalism” or “Democratic Socialism”, they are actually the same.
But, fear of either one is being stoked by the 1% who is owned by only one thing — its insatiable craving for money and power.
What has been currently called Democratic Socialism seems to be working very well in many highly advanced countries today. These countries have a proven record of success with advanced economic systems, and do not seem they would want to return to the old ways of wild, unbridled capitalism.
By the way, Bernie Sanders and a few others are singing that new tune for us now — maybe we should join them, and be willing to take a look at proven new ways to well serve us in our modern day America.
And let the 1% go back where they came from.
