I do not have much to comment on tonight. I let time get away from me when I went back to Kansas over my weekend last week. Thursday driving to eastern Kansas, Friday taking care of chores, and Saturday returning back to Estes Park.
That may be my big driving trip of the summer. Not a real highlight, though it took care of family obligations which are very important. Got to listen to a book on tape — Springsteen’s “Born to Run” autobiography, which is of my favorite music artist. It has been updated for the Audible version and he was the one reading it. He has an ego, but I expect that of someone who has worked hard to get where he is. I’m going to go back and listen to many of his albums and see if I can pick up details he pointed out as he went through the various albums, songs, artists and influences. I’d listened to some of it before this trip, but this time it lasted me the whole way there and the whole way back, ending while driving through Estes. He will not forget where he came from, which makes him a very good writer and artist.
Colorado’s a fine state for listening to recorded books or podcasts while driving around. There are long stretches of lonely highway where your mind can soar with the recordings (but please, remain somewhat aware of the surroundings) and it has lengthy traffic jams from road construction and the Californication of our state from all those people from the left coast. Traffic jams are also good places to lose yourself in alternative destinations rather than road rage and political sparring.
What’s on your minds? Any road trips you’d care to share? Any favorite musical artists?
Any other Leo’s out there? I’m a cusp baby, born decades ago at about 3:45 PM on the 23rd.
Anything happening in politics?
