Ironically, I came across the video on a rightwing site that posted it thinking it made her look bad. Instead, I watched it and thought…. badass! Damn!

Here’s a minority woman personally confronting Donald Trump in a room packed with his xenophobic bigots. (Notice she was called “an animal” while being taken out.) She fought the entire way.

Tlaib has put herself in harm’s way many times and faced off against violent white supremacists at far worse places where Trump supporters gather.

When you google the phrase “spineless” and “politician,” you’ll get the full roster of republican politicians. You’ll get submissive bootlickers like Lindsay Graham, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio. You’ll also get a few results on our Democratic leadership, who seem to love to make deals and refuse to hold Trump accountable—even with caged children. Do you know who you won’t ever see on that list?

I watch this video and wonder: Why the hell aren’t more Democratic leaders as angry as she is?

We now have a president that holds fascist rallies extolling his feeble-minded followers to openly and proudly express their hatred and bigotry. He puts white nationalists in his cabinet and appoints them as senior advisors. He rips children from their mothers and puts them in cages, while thousands of others have been lost. He is dismantling our democratic institutions. He is conceding everything to his handlers in Russia. He has threatened to not only go after journalists but people who parody him. He is an alleged sexual predator.

Pelosi and Schumer are good politicians for normal times, but these aren’t normal times. Instead of trying to scold these women, Pelosi should learn something from them. Progressives won the House because we are angry at what we see happening and want Democrats who are willing to fight him. We want someone who will fight for us—even if it means getting put in handcuffs over it.

What she fights for isn’t “radical” or even “socialist.” She is fighting for things like universal healthcare and a living wage, which every other developed country in the world has enjoyed for decades. She is fighting for immigrants to be treated like human beings.

Trump is used to having people kowtow to him. He doesn’t know how to handle people who aren’t afraid of him. He would love nothing else than to silence her and other members of “the squad” or just have her go away. Unlike Trump, Tlaib is extremely popular with her constituents. She was elected in 2018 with a whopping 84% of the vote, and Trump has ensured her seat for years to come—long after he leaves politics in disgrace.
