Hey folks,
I’ll be posting separately sometime soon about my main election work, which is registering new democrats to vote in 2020.
But there’s another part of democracy and that’s using our primary process to get leaders who reflect out values and that are dynamic enough to seize the moment on issues like investigating Trump’s crimes and leading with a message that motivates more people to vote.
I don’t mind if you are a pro-Pelosi democrat, but if like me you find her and her leadership team wanting, it’s worth investing in primary opponents that can revitalize the party and, at worst, help keep them on their toes.
Donate to Alex Morse to put pressure on Richard Neal to get trump’s state tax returns. Even if impeachment never happens, getting those taxes should be a NO BRAINER for a party that wants to win: secure.actblue.com/…
Donate to Lindsey Boylan, a serious challenger for Jerry Nadler’s Manhattan seat. www.politico.com/…, secure.actblue.com/…. Nadler is ultimately in charge of starting an impeachment inquiry. I doubt he’ll take the helm, but we should at least replace him if he doesn’t.
Finally, Shahid Buttar is challenging Nancy Pelosi. I’m not convinced he’s a strong candidate since he lost to her by 60 points last year. But I’ll keep my eye on the race as well.
We’ll win some and we’ll lose some, but the pressure we exert on these incumbents may be as important in terms of payoff as the other work we need to do to win in 2020 at every level.
As a wise woman once said, “you don’t get what you don’t fight for.”
