A few weeks ago, I posted an approval poll of candidates. Unlike most polls, which limit you to one candidate, this one asks you to rate all of the candidates (although you can say “not sure”/”no opinion”!).
You’ll find the Google form link here:
The first one was a bit flawed, in that the categories created some confusion. I have thus changed it to have a total of five categories (ranked from most to least support):
- I enthusiastically support this candidate: You would be enthusiastic to vote for this candidate as the nominee and in the general election.
- I could support in the primary, and would support in the general: This is a candidate you could support if your preferred candidate(s) were to drop out before your state votes.
- I cannot support in the primary, but would support in the general: This is for candidates you wouldn’t want to see as the nominee, but you’d vote for them if you had to.
- I cannot support in the primary or the general: This is for candidates you believe are so unacceptable that you could not vote for that candidate even in the general election.
- Not sure/Need more information/Other.
I hope this means that everyone will vote using the same frame of reference. Note there are no limits on the number of candidates you may assign to each level of support: if you’re enthusiastic about multiple candidates, you don’t have to pick a favorite!
In terms of candidates, I am limiting the options to the 20 candidates who have made the debate stage. I dropped the candidates who failed to qualify, since the dominant opinion for almost all of them was basically “not sure.” Once again, Google is randomizing the order of candidates (so no complaining!). Google will not collect your
As before, I’ll leave this poll running through at least Monday.
