Business and Politics has an article today about a discussion on “Hardball” featuring Rob Reiner and Congressman Jefferson Van Drew, a Democrat from New Jersey (Anti-impeachment). The money quote is this one from this anti-impeachment Dem:
“First it was going to be the Mueller report was really going to give us the information, and it did. I read it from the first page to the last page, and it gave some information. And certainly there are some distasteful sections and parts of that that really are concerning, but not high crimes and misdemeanors, at least in my opinion, and obviously in other people’s opinions as well.”
What? And wow: it gave “some information”?? Distasteful? Concerning???? Incredible.
And according to this guy, our side is to blame for Mitch McConnell blocking everything the House has passed this year:
The bottom line is if what we’re going to say to people, well, we presided over a failed impeachment. That’s our major accomplishment in two years, that’s why you flipped districts. That’s why you changed the majority. I don’t think that does the job,” Van Drew said, “It seems like we’re constantly trying to move on to do something else, and the bottom line is I want us to do good stuff, and we can. One of the reasons we’re not getting certain things done with the other side is because we’re always attacking them.”
So, there you go folks, there’s your full on rebuttal of the need to impeach: Trump is really not that bad and the Repubs are hurt that we are attacking them and him. Stop being meanies you Dems and we can have universal healthcare, a $15 hour minimum wage, and immigration reform!
