I see a lot of Nancy Pelosi bashing on this site so I felt it necessary to say something about it.
Since winning back the House Majority, the Democrats, led by Pelosi, have passed 140 Bills, and many more Resolutions since 2018, which, if passed by the Senate would make an incredible change to the lives and health of All Americans.
Some of the Bills and Resolutions:
- To strengthen voter’s rights, to get Big Money out of Politics, secure our elections, make voting easier for all Americans
- To address Gun Violence
- To ensure Equal Rights and Laws that would prevent discrimination based on sex, gender ID and sexual orientation to protect the LGBTQ+ community
- To Combat Climate Change
- To reauthorize the Violence against Women Act
- And, to condemn Trump’s Racist comments directed at Members of the House
And what has the Senate done under the “Grim Reaper”, “Moscow Mitch” Mcturtle?
All they have done is Install Right-Wing, Racist and Antiabortion, Anti-LGBTQ Judges to various courts around the country in an effort to control the Republican’s agenda for generations and destroy our Democracy, if they can. That is ALL he cares about. He blocks votes on the House’s bills and refuses to even bring to the floor for debate, much less vote on, any of the House bills. And some of the proposed bills are Bi-partisan. He especially refuses to bring any bills that would protect our elections and prevent Russia, China and any other foreign countries from meddling in our elections as he claims that the bills are “too partisan.” What this means is:
- He is taking money from Russia through one or more of his PACs.
- He is in the pockets of voting machine manufacturers who don’t want to lose their strangle hold on American elections as the bills would call for paper ballots and for new secure voting machines.
- He is afraid that if these voting rights and election security bills pass, the Republicans would lose their minority-ruled control over our government, at all levels, AND HE IS RIGHT. If all of the disenfranchised citizens and eligible voters that have been deprived from voting or deleted from, by state governments around the country, the voting registration rolls, and through the loss of votes to Republican gerrymandering in states around the country, were able to regain their right to vote, the Republicans are afraid that these voters would cast their votes for the Democrat(s) on their local, State and National ballots. And they are probably right. This is what one of the current fight is about all over the country with lawsuits going through the courts and, recently heard by the Supreme Court (which just reversed lower court decisions and is allowing gerrymandering to continue in states around the country. This is why we must register more voters and encourage all voters to actually go and vote.)
- And, finally, let me state this clearly: It has become obvious that “Moscow Mitch” is a Russian Asset. (see the Washington Post column from 7/26/19 by Dana Milbank): Link Here
Now, about Impeachment:
“My position has always been whatever decision we made in that regard would have to be done with our strongest possible hand, and we still have some outstanding matters in the courts,” Pelosi said at a press conference alongside Intel Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA), Judiciary Chair Jerry Nadler (D-NY) and Oversight Chair Elijah Cummings (D-MA). “It’s about the Congress, the Constitution and the courts. And we are fighting the President in the courts.”
When the Press continued to ask her about impeachment, Pelosi replied:
“It’s about what information is there,” Pelosi said. “And this isn’t endless. This isn’t endless.”
I don’t think these statements are “anti-impeachment” at all. All along, she has supported the Judiciary, Intelligence, Oversight, and other committees investigating Trump and his corrupt administration, henchmen (and women) and sycophants from every angle and direction and what has happened? More obstruction, more lying, more subpoenas ignored, more lawsuits and more appeals from Trump’s seemingly endless supply of lawyers (and I can’t help but wonder if he is using taxpayer money or election fund money to pay for his lawsuit or other’s lawyers).
And I think that going to the courts to get their subpoenas enforced is correct. The American Public deserves the right to see Trump’s finances and his tax returns and I really think AG Barr and Don McGhan not only need to be held in contempt but prosecuted. (And I do believe that Barr should be impeached. He is supposed to be the Attorney For The People and it seems that his only client is Trump.) Why is Michael Cohen in jail and nobody else? Why not Hope Hicks? Why not those in the Trump Organization that facilitated the payoff of Stormy Daniels and any other individuals?
Why did the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York stop investigating the Trump Organization? What happen to the alleged sealed indictment of Individual One? What is going on with the other cases that were referred by Mueller to the Justice Department? Weren’t there something like 25 of them? And weren’t 7 of them abruptly shut down? (If I am wrong, please correct me in the comments and I will fix it) And what about the ongoing investigation of the Russian interference in the elections that occurred in 2016 and are occurring right now, today? Shouldn’t Adam Schiff and the House Intelligence Committee keep investigating that?
Right now, only 100 Democrats support Impeachment, and some of those Congressmen and women just came out for impeachment after the Mueller Hearings, and that is not enough for it to pass a vote for impeachment in the House.
Also, some of the Democratic representatives come from Red States and just barely won their seats. Impeachment has to be something their voters will support or their seats will be jeopardized and, thus, the Democratic Majority in the House could be lost in the next Election. And Nancy Pelosi is well aware of this.
And let me just note: (from Wikipedia – Timeline of the Watergate Scandal: Link Here
The Watergate Hearings lasted 5 years from the Watergate burglary which happened (June 17th 1972) until Nixon resigned (August 9th, 1974). It was 2 years from the start of the Watergate Hearings in Congress (May 9th 1974) to the day Nixon resigned.
It has been around 100 days since the Mueller report was released and, since January 20, 2017, and we have been watching a slow-rolling Constitutional Crises right before our very eyes. I know we are all impatient and want to see this president impeached but I would counsel, please, let the House of Representatives and Nancy Pelosi do their jobs. That doesn’t mean that you cannot call, write and/or petition your representative to demand impeachment and encourage others to do the same. And, if anyone wants to call for a national protest against this administration and for impeachment, I am there. Just please, don’t mischaracterize Madam Speaker, Nancy Pelosi. She is the most powerful, highest ranking woman to ever serve this country in Congress and she is doing a fine job of it.
