There was some discussion in comments of the fact that the “Luka” video is about a child being abused rather than a wife, but the song itself could be taken either way, and the point still stands.
Other nominees whose names came up repeatedly: the teacher in “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” (The Police), the stalker in “Every Breath You Take” (also the Police — do they just like sociopaths?), Lucille (Kenny Rogers), Ruby (Kenny Rogers again), and the sailor who jilted Brandy (Looking Glass).
I’d like to make the case for a lesser-known Gordon Lightfoot song. Because we’ve all met (or, if really unlucky, dated), this narrator:

Sorry for the wordy nomination, but the entire comment spoke to me. The long presidential nomination process with an absurdly cumbersome field is a time to educate and fire up our base, but let's not burn down the party.
